Begin by determining the length that your feather will be. It will depend on the intended use; but as a general guideline, use thread that has approximately 70-75 wraps per square inch to get the most effective results.
Based on your theme, natural or neutral colored feathers may be best. While dyed feathers offer plenty of visual appeal, their bright hues may fade more quickly than natural feathers. Therefore, dyed feathers may not be the best option for your project.
Another factor to consider is your available space. Longer feathers can create more drama and formality while smaller ones could be more casual. When choosing feathers to use in your projects, be mindful of both their length and shape; certain feathers have flat surfaces, while others have more curvilinear or ruffled forms that add texture. Since not taking care of their proper care could cause knots or static-charged ones being used, ensure to thoroughly inspect each one before you use it.
Once you have your feathers in the order you want them, place them into a crimp tube and close it with pliers to ensure an ensconced hold. This allows you to then do other things with them like putting beads on them for earrings made of beads, or wire the headpin onto a barrette to make a headpiece for use. Creating bird's-nest pendants or clusters of flowers as pendants is another alternative. You can also attach feathers directly to wire for bracelet creation! Be creative! Experiment with different arrangements as you create various effects
Feathers are gorgeous accessories which require special attention to stay looking their best. When stored hanging or laid flat, they should not get crushed through other things or by hard surfaces; and should always be handled gently to prevent chipping or cracking of feathers.
For a simple way to maintain their appearance, feathers can look great using twine to wrap tight around them. This kind of twine usually comes as an element of kits, or is available separately. its waxy coating enables it to wrap tight around objects.

Once you've completed this, the feather can be hung from an ear wire or jump rings (great for putting it on necklaces) with its hook through the hole created at the top of the wrapping (Photo five).
